Ken Onion Custom Knife Alaska Black bear hunt
The residents of the village of Tyonek are always wonderful to be with during the course of the bear hunt, the photo above was taken during their annual Open Arms Gathering, when as always they opened their arms to all of us.
During lunch at the Gathering
Another shot during lunch, we had a great time. A few of the elders were having a great time with some of the new guys in camp, lunch is made up of many local traditional foods. After asking one of our hunters what he thought he was eating and then him answering with everything from whale to porcupine, the elder began laughing and pronounced it was chicken from Alabama erupting the entire table into laughter :)
Stephen Cochran performing for everyone to include surrounding villages during the celebration
Myself and our buddy Max, Max is always there to give us a hand or a hard time if we need it. We could not run the camp without him!
A great shot of the Alaska Honorable Service Medal presentation. The medal recognizes those Veterans that served their country in the great state of Alaska. A tremendous thank you to Alaska's Veterans Aviation Outreach for joining us and honoring not only those of us that served in Alaska but every man or woman that has ever served in the United States Armed forces.
