JetBoil Personal cooking system (pcs) with French coffee press

JetBoil SystemJetBoil Coffee press

"The Jetboil PCS integrates a 1 liter insulated hard-anodized aluminum cooking cup, high-performance burner base with built-in piezoelectric igniter, drink-through plastic lid, and protective bottom cover that doubles as a measuring cup. With all components, including fuel, packed comfortably within the cooking cup, the entire PCS is smaller than a Nalgene bottle. Stow it in your pack, saddle bag, kayak, fanny pack, or side pocket – take it anywhere. At 15 ounces, Jetboil PCS rivals the very lightest titanium cooksets and micro-canister stoves."

The beauty of Prince William sound and the JetBoil

The beauty of Prince William Sound

A must for every Sportsman

I have to admit I am a coffee addict and for MANY years I have carried a full, heavy thermos in my pack on day trips while hunting and fishing. In most cases this meant cooled coffee as well as an aged taste by afternoon. With the JetBoil, just add water, fire it up and in about 2 mins you have boiling water, add coffee and the french press and you have fresh hot coffee in no time. I will not leave on another trip without my JetBoil, the coffee is just too good and the entire package just to convenient.  One thing I will not be without on my next trip will be the optional maintenance kit, it has not been needed but I would really hate to be without a $10.00 part if it was needed somewhere out in the Alaska bush. We have not yet put the JetBoil through below zero temperature testing and we are quite sure that given the properties of the JetBoil fuel that there will be a slight change in operation as well as performance, we also expect difficulty with the control valve with cold or gloved hands so please bear this in mind with the above information.

*Remember that you are not allowed to carry pressurized fuel cans on any of the airlines so leave them at home for your next local trip. The great news when flying into Alaska is that their are many retailers within a few minutes of both the Anchorage and Fairbanks airports that carry the JetBoil fuel. If you will be connecting to a bush flight, Sportsman's warehouse in both cities is a VERY short cab ride from the airport and they should have all the fuel you will need for your trip to the bush.

Tip- I always carry 2 coffee cups with me in my pack, the ones I like are the thin, lightweight plastic cups that American airlines uses but I am sure that your local sporting supply store carries something very similar and perhaps even better. They are great to share coffee, soup or anything else with a buddy while on the trail.
