Jamie's Mathews shot, turned out great. Jamie was our token stick and string hunter as it has been put so warmly.

Bob and his first bear after more than 25 years in Alaska, a nice bear that I was glad to be a part of with my old friend.

If you hunt, fish, camp, backpack whatever, you need one of these, they are fantastic and worth every penny of their very reasonable cost.

Here is Steve's first bear, a great shot over 300 yards with his 338. He just had to shoot him straight up a rock slide way up in goat territory and of course we had to climb up just to release the bear from a branch to watch it roll all the way to the bottom of the mountain.

Now for the bear pictures

Here is Steve's first bear, a great shot over 300 yards with his 338. He just had to shoot him straight up a rock slide way up in goat territory and of course we had to climb up just to release the bear from a branch to watch it roll all the way to the bottom of the mountain. A bear kill that I was very proud to be a part of, you can see the video of Steve getting his bear on our video page.

This year winter held on a few days longer than it had in 2006 and instead of seeing the roughly 15 bears a day we are used to seeing, unfortunately we saw just a few more than that the entire trip and only 2 bears were bagged. Although the weather and different terrain than in 2006 certainly played a part, we were more selective this year and most of us chose not to take lesser bears than we had taken in the past, realizing that we would be back and have another chance at a big black bear in Alaska's Great Outdoors.

Ken Weas and his 60 lb halibut. We were in a cove and had rods out only because we were over water. After hours of nothing Ken's rod went crazy, Ken wanted nothing more on this trip than the chance to catch a halibut and he certainly did very well with this one!

Dall Porpoises, we had 6-8 of them just under the bow of the boat on this ride.
