Who we are
Here at Alaska's Great Outdoors you
will not find listings from guides, outfitters, companies or products that
we have not personally dealt with on our own adventures. A journey to
Alaska for many will be a once in a lifetime experience and suffice it to
say we do not care to take part in promoting a company that may not be
what they advertise. One of our main goals is
providing the hunting and fishing consumer market with up to date
factual information on gear performance, durability and longevity when
exposed to the sometimes harsh conditions often found in Alaska as well as
to provide first hand knowledge to manufacturers in their efforts to
create more advanced and reliable products.
You will notice throughout the website
our continual reference to doing things for our wounded and current active
duty troops
with
the
PVA Heritage Fund, everyone involved with Alaska's Great Outdoors is former
military or has a strong belief in our Armed Forces and our great country. Everything we do with and for them is very personal to all of
us as their commitment keeps us safe and free.
Keep your lines tight and hunt hard
and hunt often,
Doug

Doug Warren- Half of
my life has been spent in the shooting and
fishing sports industry. I am a lifelong big game
hunter and angler with big game hunting experience from Alaska to
Maryland and fishing experience from Kona, HI blue marlin to stripers
in Maryland and most everything in between. Former owner and manager of theworldoutdoors.com, an internet based publication serving the hunting
and fishing enthusiast worldwide. The past 10+ years have been spent
working with disabled Veterans and others with disabilities to develop
hunting and fishing programs designed to aid in their physical therapy
as well as remove barriers that have for so long made many areas of
our great outdoors inaccessible.
Thanks to great partners like
the Outdoor Channel, Kershaw Knives, SureFire, CamelBak and so
many others and celebrities like Country artist Aaron Tippin and NY
Jets Linebacker Cody Spencer we have been able to accomplish some
tremendous goals with the PVA Heritage Fund.
Since leaving Fairbanks in 1986
I have been returning to Alaska numerous times every year for new
hunting and Fishing adventures all across the state I think of as
home.

Ken's
Website |
Ken Onion-Ken
Onion is a celebrity and top businessman in his own right through his
many innovative knife patents and designs as well as in the many other
arenas that he has contributed to with his many patents for knives,
steels, machinery etc. Kens keen eye for detail and his vast knowledge
of the production and patent process make him a true asset to AGO.
Ken is a die hard hunter and
angler and someone I am very proud to call a close friend. Ken is an
unselfish man that has dropped everything many times when we have
needed assistance with a project for our wounded Veterans anywhere
that might be in the country.
A Marine himself he personally
understands the sacrifices our wounded heroes have made for him and
all the rest of us here in our great nation.
You will see through the pages of the website that Ken is an active
participant in most all of our Alaska hunting and fishing trips, he
too has found a new home in Alaska.

introducing newcomers to the sport although he is mainly a meat hunter
himself.
He feels that outdoor
skills are an important part of our American heritage and should be
passed along to all. Truly respecting and harvesting nature’s bounty
is a Blessing from God for which we should be appreciative and hold in
